Length: 42cm * Width: 12cm * Depth: 4cm * Speed: 0.59 m/s
Propulsion: 2 paddle wheels * Steering: differential steering, bow thruster

To prove that paddle wheels like the one serving as bow thruster on 'ERIKA' can propell a ship, 'MORITZ' was built.
The rudder shown proved to be unnecessary and was later removed, differential steering works perfect.
Still not convinced about the performance of the paddle wheels, MORITZ was drawn very streamlined to be not too slow.
MORITZ from below
Again the paddle wheels proved to work better than expected, and MORITZ is faster than the two- propeller MAX!
Here the speed measurement (51frames = 1.7 seconds for 1m):

Additionally MORITZ is used as a testbed for the bow thruster at the tip of the bow.

Here some test runs:

casting off with the bow thruster

maneuvering around

left bow thruster during cruise

The differential steering works so well that the bow thruster seems to be unnecessary.
But, It is quite useful:
When it counters the torque of the differential steering, it enables the ship to move sideways!

Or it fixes the ship at the quay.
